Tuesday night, Midland Council voted 9-0 in a recorded vote to support a moratorium on Site 41 for a one-year period. Every member of council spoke in favour. This is a very significant and principled political stand from a key North Simcoe municipality. Meanwhile on the legal front, the injunction Simcoe County is seeking to stop any protest at the gates to Dump Site 41 (the one that names Vicki Monague and Anne Ritchie Nahuis and seeks damages from them) is to be heard in court Wednesday, some time after 10 a.m. The Council of Canadians application for an injunction to stop dump site construction because Simcoe County didn’t pass a bylaw to authorize the project as required by the Municipal Act may also be heard. Be there if you can. The Barrie courthouse is at 114 Worsley St. There is free courthouse parking if you get there early enough, otherwise you have to find somewhere on the neighbouring streets.

Way to go Midland for taking a stand against this madness!!
How about it Penetang..let’s hear from you!
Do you still support this insanity? Are you going to allow the county to destroy this precious water source?
Will you still feel the same when your drinking water becomes polluted and Georgian Bay is contaminated?
Do you want another Walkerton in your town?
Please take a stand NOW and demand a new vote on this issue at the Simcoe County council meeting on August 25. We’ll be there to support you!
