A big thank you to Don Morgan

By Letty McNeil
Everyone has done a fabulous job in working to have the charges dropped and need to be congratulated. It was a wonderful accomplishment. It is important too that we recognize all the work and effort that Don Morgan put into supporting those who were charged.
The day that Keith and Ina Wood were called by the OPP and told to turn themselves in within the hour, Don went to the police station and arranged for Keith and Ina to turn themselves in on a later day, decreasing their anxiety by giving them time to speak to their lawyer and minister, etc.
He also made an effort to make sure that all those charged had lawyers and followed up with calls to ensure that their questions were being addressed and that they were confident with their lawyers.
In addition, when the group of six were arrested, Don was at the police station again, successfully making the case for the police to limit the conditions put upon those arrested.
He worked tirelessly to have the charges dropped with continuous contacts to the officers of the Attorney General and the Premier. He also worked as a liaison between some of those charged and their lawyers – keeping up with any new developments and passing the information on.
Like many people that are working behind the scenes with Site 41, there are probably other actions that Don has been responsible for that we are not even aware of – but there is enough listed here for us to feel an immense gratitude for all that he has contributed.
There were many worrisome and fretful moments for those arrested and their loved ones and we all extend our heartfelt appreciation to Don for all of his support and hard work.

Yes, there were other things. Like “hosting” garbage from the encampment safely out of reach of Midland’s busy racoons, and putting the bags out for pick-up when the coast was clear.

Thanks to Don for always being willing and ready to help in any way.

And thanks to all of Don’s family for their similar level of support and encouragement. Quite a team within the Site 41 team! Mary Lou was so often ‘there for so many of us’. And how about the Facebook presence that created awareness world-wide – thanks to the Morgan daughters I believe? Amazing!

  2. Thank you for sooo much work and caring, especially for Ina and Keith Wood…
