<description>The city of Edmonton has just started up an ethonol plant using garbage. Any garbage that can be heated will turn to a material which looks like shredded paper. They then use this waste material and turn it into ethenol to be mixed with gasoline. The process is not new as it has been around for many decades.
http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/News/TV_Shows/The_National/ID=1583019769
Simply another opportunity to make garbage into a commodity that has value. We have tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars buried in former dump sites. All we need is the political will to make use of it.

<description>But Mr. Wilson this is not the final solution but the benefits of mining our dumps and starting the clean up process is simply the start. The reuse of plastics without it first going to a dump is a good start. There is ideal and there is ideal that is achievable.
Until people wake up and force change, for it will never happen unless it is, this is just part of the process to a cleaner earth.
I am 100% for recycling into a usable product. But currently industry is simply not interested. As governments seem to be all about looking after the interests of big business instead of the people we still have a long way to go.
I have been writing here that we need to make waste a commodity. This use simply brings us one step closer. As for energy used to heat this stuff it can and should be partly green at least to the first few hundred degrees topped off with wind, water and solar electricity. Will it ever happen? Only if we keep pushing.

<description>this video is an example of fuzzy thinking.

in what way does the process reduce mankinds carbon footprint or co2 emissions.

crude is pumped from the ground.
refined,(by boiling it) to oil, fuel and plastic feed stock.
(they boil it by burning oil)

the plastic is formed by lengthening the already long chain molecules and adding chemicals to give the plastic the desired characteristics.
unfortunately ,for the most part, the plastic is used once and then discarded.
of course this plastic can be harvested and re-refined by boiling it once again.
so where does the energy come from to boil the plastic?
electricity!
from oil or coal or hydro electric or nuclear energy

the long chain molecules are broken down.
and you end up with the same plastic feed stock you started with and of course the residue of whatever chemicals and contaminates were in the used plastic and what ever gases freed by the process.
so now we have a liquid that can be used as fuel,
whatever gases are released from the process, and the residue which are never mentioned.
so if we use the now twice distilled oil as fuel and burn it, all the same environmental impacts take place as if we had burned the stuff in the first place.
along with the fuel (and it&#039;s contaminates) used to vapourize the stuff the second time .

how much more efficient to form the almost indestructible plastic into a product that has a long life span. and not discarded after one temporary use.
or if damaged some how by usage, to recycle the plastic into another product with long term usage.</description>

<description>British Airways is running a plant near London which uses platics mined from landfills to produce aviation fuel. This is not new and could havebeen done with plastics from day one. If you can convert fossil fuels to plastics then plastics can be returned to fossil fuels. What has been missing is the will of governments, business and the people to make it happen.
People need to understand that nothing is ever destroyed completely on this earth. What we actually think is destroyed is only changed. The burning of wood leaves an ash and smoke. While the wood looks like it is destroyed it is still with us in its newform. The ash will fertilize and is absobed by new trees. The smoke is actually consumed by trees and they in turn return oxygen which the burning had used to allow the burn. Where man goes wrong is we do not like nature return our chemicals and plastics back to whaERE THEY CAME FROM. Then we concentrate in small areas our waste which then nature can not handle in short time before we are poisoned.
a hundred acre farm will support a finite number of anumals with both feed and waste disposal. When feed lots crowd 100 times more anumals on 10 acres is when polution takes place and we poison the land. This is not rocket science but greed drives man instead of logic. Hence we have dumps and super dumps.

<description>No comments yet? Google Canadian Coalition For Nuclear Responsibility. Check them out, and their links. You will be SHOCKED.
I have been following this for several years, tracking many sources of information. Back in the 1990s, the U.S. nuclear industry began lobbying their government to allow the release of radioactive metal into the scrap metal stream, rather than having to safely store it for the thousands of years that it takes for the radioactivity to decline to safe? levels. By now, the idea has spread around the world.
For some time, in many ways, it has been deemed OK to put the public at risk, as long as it allows large corporations to show more profits to their shareholders.
By the way, it has been scientifically proven that a steady dose of low level radiation, (soon to be coming from your stove, fridge, frying pan, car, ETC.,) is MORE harmful, and cancer causing, to the human body than is a single, much larger dose.
I know that the enormity of this plan to release surplus radioactive metal into the public scrap stream seems unbelievable, but consider what we have been fighting already. Bad ideas, that increase wealth, tend to expand unless or until they are squashed.
I guess we will all need to carry radiation detectors when we go shopping, to choose the item that we hope will harm us the least.

<description>Good-bye Gerritson too bad it&#039;s not good ridence. Only problem the real cause of Ontario&#039;s problem is still there. McGuinty is Ontario&#039;s biggest problem and he has not had his sorry ass kicked out as well. Wake-up Ontario Liberals he is decimating your party which doesn&#039;t bother me but is doing the same to Ontario.

<description>If the lack of comments on this announcement is any indication, then AWARE is nothing but a farce. Here is a woman committed to all the issues and more that Site 41 Group and AWARE who are one and the same claim to be concerned about and Kelly get&#039;s nothing, nada, zip, zero in public support.
While Kelly gave of herself to your cause because it is our cause she is being ignored.
This is how those who Speak Out are treated. This is how people who stood up at the first meeting of AWARE, where Kelly tried in vain to get those who were running the meeting to deal with the issues we were all there for, treat her effort to make change.
I&#039;ve said it before and I will say it again. There are bad people in every group and ringers have been placed within the Site 41 Group as well as in the AWARE bunch.
It was suggested to me that the mistakes of AWARE might be because of inexperience. Bull Dodoo. It is the same scenario as what the professionals on County Council and Staff do and have been doing to us.
AWARE we are not stupid and we are aware of what is going on. The last thing those who are ringers, sabateurs and provocatuers want is for good people to be elected. The lack of any public support for the first truley pure candidate in Simcoe County who could and would make a difference is totally ignored. Sad! really Sad.
